Last updated: March 7, 2026
1. Introduction
SJP Apps ("we," "us," or "our") operates Nookery, a homeschool management application available on iOS, Android, and the Web. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Nookery. We are committed to protecting the privacy of families and students, including children.
2. COPPA Compliance
Nookery may be used by families with children under the age of 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect personal information from children directly. All accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian. Any student data entered into Nookery is provided by the parent or guardian and remains under their control.
3. Information We Collect
Education Data
Nookery stores lesson plans, schedules, student progress records, grades, and curriculum information as entered by the parent or guardian.
Uploaded Documents
You may use your device's camera to scan and upload documents such as worksheets, assignments, or educational materials. These documents are stored according to your sync preferences.
Account Information (Optional)
If you choose to enable cloud sync, we collect a minimal set of account information (email address) to facilitate synchronization across your devices.
4. Local-First Data Storage
Nookery is designed with a local-first architecture. By default, all your data is stored on your device and never leaves it. Cloud synchronization is entirely optional and must be explicitly enabled by you. If cloud sync is disabled, no data is transmitted to our servers or any third party.
5. How We Use Your Information
- To provide homeschool planning, scheduling, and progress tracking functionality
- To store and organize scanned documents and educational materials
- To synchronize your data across devices, if you opt in to cloud sync
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information or student data with any third parties. We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising services. Your education data is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the Nookery service to you.
7. Permissions
- Camera: Used solely for scanning documents such as worksheets and assignments. No images are captured without your explicit action.
- Local Storage: Used to store all app data on your device.
- Internet (Optional): Required only if you enable cloud synchronization.
Nookery requests microphone permission as part of the platform's standard camera interface, but the microphone is not used by the app for any purpose.
8. Data Retention
Data stored locally on your device remains under your control and persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. If you use cloud sync, your data is retained on our servers until you delete your account or request data removal.
9. Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to review, modify, or delete any data stored in Nookery at any time. If cloud sync is enabled, you may request complete deletion of all cloud-stored data by contacting us. You may also disable cloud sync at any time to prevent further data transmission.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data and all student data. You may also request a copy of any cloud-stored data we hold. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the app and updating the "Last updated" date above. Changes affecting how we handle children's data will require renewed parental consent where applicable.
